Today I’m here with an amazing recipe of fish.rohu is a very tasty fish which is mostly used in everyday meal of bengali cuisine.we can make many kind of dishes with this fish.

Being a Bengali i can tell you the importance of fish in our meal.if we don’t get fish in our meal that means the meal in incomplete . Though there is a reason behind using fish in daily basis. Fish contains so much of nutrients which are very essential to our body.this fish contains so much of proteins, vitamins, phosphorus and even it contains so much of calcium in its bone. So everyone should put a dish of fish in their meal.

I’m using the ring pieces of fish in this dish. You can use any other pieces.but this type of pieces looks good so I’m using it. This dish needs some known ingredients which is always available in your kitchen. We bengalis always use some sugar to balance the taste of dish. But in this dish It is essential to use some sugar.it will give give a good touch of mild sweetness in this dish. Don’t forget to put some sweetness and love to your dish to make it tastier.  So take the fish and make this dish to enjoy it.

Ingredients –

  • Rohu fish ring pieces (8-10)
  • Onions (2-3)
  • Ginger (2 inches
  • Garlic (10-12)
  • Green chilies (4-5)
  • Tomato (1 )
  • Turmeric powder ( 2 teaspoon )
  • Red chili powder ( 1 teaspoon )
  • Garam masala powder ( 1 teaspoon )
  • Whole cumin ( 1 teaspoon )
  • Whole red chilies ( 2-3 )
  • Mustard oil
  • Salt
  • Sugar

Preparation –

  • For preparation of this at first we have to take the pieces on on a plate.put some salt and turmeric powder in it.marinate them for 5 minutes.
  • Now make thin slices of 2-3 onions.
  • Take a mixer put ginger, garlic, green chilies and tomatoes in the mixer. Make a smooth paste. Keep it in in a bowl.
  • In another bowl put turmeric powder, red chili  and garam masala powder, salt and some water and make a fine paste.

Process –

  1. it’s time to a tart our cooking. For that put 1/2 cup of mustard oil in a pan and heat it well.
  2. Now put the marinated fish in the pan.fry them till it turns golden. Put them out of the pan.
  3. Put some whole red chilies and cumin in the same pan and let them splutter.
  4. Now add the thin slices of onion in the the pan and add 2 pinch of sugar.it will give a nice colour and will help to caramelise the onion.
  5. When the onion is soft and golden colour appears add the fine paste of ginger,  garlic, green chilies and tomatoes.
  6. Cook them in a low flame till oil comes out and raw smell goes out.
  7. It’s time to put the mixture of turmeric powder ,red chili powder , salt and garam masala powder in.
  8. Cook It for 8-10 minutes and let the oil come out.now put 1 cup of water in and cover it and cook it for 5 minutes.
  9. Now put the fried fishes and 1/2 teaspoon sugar in and cover it again and cook it for another 3-5 minutes.
  10. Your rohu kalia is absolutely ready ready to serve.sprinkle some garam masala powder and serve it hot with steamed rice and enjoy your meal.
