Preparation of Mustard Hilsa -Bengali Sorshe Ilish :


Ingredients –

  1.  Hilsa fish (8-10 piece),
  2. Turmeric powder (1 teaspoon),
  3.  green chili (8-10),
  4. mustard seed (5-6 tablespoon),
  5. poppy seed (3-4 tablespoon),
  6. mustard oil (half cup),
  7. salt for taste ,
  8. water (1 cup)

 

Procedure

  1.  soak the mustard seed and poppy seed in little water.
  2. Add 5-6 green chilies,1 teaspoon turmeric powder and salt to taste in the soaked seeds.
  3. Make a fine paste of the mixture.
  4. Heat mustard oil in a pan and put the fish and sauté for less than 1 minute.
  5. Put the paste, 4-5 green chilies and 1 cup water.
  6. Cover the pan and cook it for 10-15 minutes and adjust salt.
  7. Now pour 1-2 tablespoon mustard oil and serve
